This road trip takes you past all the country’s highlights. After your first night in Arusha, you’ll head to Tarangire, where elephants roam among enormous baobabs. Then you’ll drive north towards one of Africa’s most famous parks: the Serengeti. Cross its endless plains and spend the night in the heart of the savannah.

On the way back to Arusha comes one of the trip’s biggest highlights. The Ngorongoro Crater, home to the highest concentration of wildlife in Africa. Head into the Ngorongoro highlands for an unforgettable safari in the crater.

  • The base price for this trip is €1795 per person (excluding flights). This price is based on two people sharing a Toyota Land Cruiser. The larger the group, the lower the price per person. You can choose from:

    Toyota Land Cruiser with a private driver and guide. 

    • 2 people: €1795 per person

    • 4 people: €1479 per person
    • 5 people: €1415 per person
    • 6 people: €1402 per person

Food & drinks
  • During your road trip through Tanzania, all breakfasts are included for the entire stay. Some other meals are optional, while you have complete freedom to choose where you want to eat at certain times.

During the safari
Since there are hardly any places to eat in the national parks, we recommend adding the meal package. It includes 5 dinners and 5 packed lunches during the safari days.

In Arusha
In Arusha  you can choose where to have lunch and dinner. Eat at your hotel or try one of the recommended restaurants in the roadbook.

How do you get there?

Your trip starts and ends at Kilimanjaro Airport (JRO), near Arusha. We offer direct flights from Amsterdam and Brussels several times a week. Of course, you can also arrange your own flights.

We offer affordable direct flights to Kilimanjaro Airport, from both Amsterdam (Schiphol) and Brussels (Zaventem), from €790 per person (including 1 piece of hand luggage weighing up to 7 kg and 2 pieces of checked baggage weighing up to 23 kg each).

Book your own flights

We recommend flying with Ethiopian Airlines, as they are excellently connected to Tanzania and receive very good reviews.

Other airlines like Turkish Airlines and Qatar Airways also offer flights to Kilimanjaro Airport (JRO) from various European cities. If you let us know your arrival time, we will arrange the shuttle to the hotel.

You will pick up your vehicle the morning after your arrival in Arusha, and return it again in the evening before your return flight.

Your first overnight stay is in Arusha, just a short distance from Kilimanjaro Airport.

If you book your flights through us, the shuttle will be ready for you. If you arrive with flights you booked yourself, we kindly ask you to communicate your arrival time, and we'll arrange a shuttle for you.

Where do I pick up the car?

Your driver-guide will pick you up from your hotel in Arusha, and you’ll set off straight away for your first national park, Tarangire. That’s where your Tanzania road trip begins.

At the end of your trip, you’ll be dropped back off at your hotel in Arusha. The next day, a shuttle will take you to the airport.

What documents do I need to travel to Tanzania?
  • An international passport that remains valid for at least 6 months after your return.
  • A visa for Tanzania (easy to apply for online, we’ll send you the right information after you book).
  • Proof of vaccination against Yellow Fever (required if arriving from a country at risk).

 

Do I need vaccinations for my trip to Tanzania?

There are no mandatory vaccinations for traveling to Tanzania.

Can I customize the trip to my own preferences?

The Tanzania Nomads road trip is a carefully planned experience, with the best route, accommodation and logistics all taken care of.

You’re of course welcome to extend your trip independently, for example by spending a few extra days in Arusha or Zanzibar after your road trip.

Can I cancel my trip?

You can always cancel your road trip. Here you can find the terms and conditions for that.

What about insurance?

Is there on-site support?

Absolutely. Upon arrival, you'll be welcomed by our local team in Arusha.

They will ensure a smooth handover of your vehicle and are ready to assist you at departure.

Additionally, you'll have access to our offline app, and just before departure, you'll be added to a WhatsApp group with other participants from your trip. Someone from our team will also be available in that group in case of emergencies.

What’s in the roadbook?

Our roadbook is your essential travel guide through Tanzania.

You'll find the complete itinerary, explained day by day, with highlights along the way, tips for beautiful stopovers, dining spots, and practical info for each region.

The route includes both classics and some surprising, lesser-known places for a perfect travel experience.

What are the extra costs?

• Almost all the trip costs have already been paid upfront.

• Tips for guides or staff are optional but customary. You’ll also need to pay for drinks along the way and dinner in Arusha yourself.

 

How does payment work?

Within 10 days of your registration, you will need to pay a deposit of 35% to confirm your trip. After that, you have until 45 days before departure to adjust your options and pay the remaining amount. If you make changes, the deposit will be automatically recalculated.

Additionally, shortly before departure, you will also need to pay a security deposit if you haven’t opted for damage waiver for your car.

There are various payment options available. If your payment failed, it’s likely that there was an error when entering the reference number or you exceeded your account limit.
